God looks out for his own :0)
By Michael J Quinlan

Many years ago I lived in London England in a district south east of the Thames river embankment called “Clapham Common”. At the time I had recently left Ireland by faith to follow God for the rest of my natural life.
Upon arriving in London by a series of really cool events God led me to Y.W.A.M ( Youth With A Mission) in Leister Square and also to accommodation in one of their house`s in Clapham Common . I traveled by London`s excellent underground train system ( Like new yorks Tube ) most days to the city center and sometimes would not return until the last tube home at 11pm.

One night I remember very well, I was coming home on the last train. When the train stopped at Clapham common I disembarked and headed up the long stair case with a small band of commuters.
When we reached the cool night air of the high street we all went our separate ways.
I headed south down the high street then walked west across Clapham common.
A common is a large green area surrounded by many homes and shops with open well cut grass areas and trees. This one is about 60 acres. The locals exercise there dogs , fly model airplanes and play various sporting activities.

Ahead of me on the Common was a tall man walking slowly,he had been on the train. Before long I passed him just as we came to the edge of the common. I crossed the road to the side walk and headed south towards my street that was the next right 150 yards ahead.

Then I heard whistling behind me, the tall man had decided to quicken his pace and was coming up on me fast. He was whistling with a confidence that impressed upon me that I was about to be mugged. The street was not well lit, I thought Michael you should no better never walk on the dark side of a street.

Back then I weighed 118lbs and was no match for the approaching Goliath. Yes, I was scared so I prayed
God you said you would protect me where ever I go, Right Now I,m claiming the full armor of God!!!”

As soon as I had prayed that and with the tall man just about 6 feet I see the lights of a car ahead as it turns from my street and drives in our direction. It was a police car, it slowly drives towards us and the tall man slows his pace . The car stops right beside us,there were two officers in it.

What happened next was really cool. The police officers did not roll down the car window or ask what was going on. The officer driving simply put the car into reverse and kept pace with us all the way to my turn, backed around the corner driving the 100 yards to my home. Once I was inside the house they drove of. No one spoke a word or made a sound. The tall man just kept going down my street.

I thanked God from the bottom of my heart for his protection,he was preparing me for my next home I was going to live in, a drug and high crime district in central London.

I have never forgotten that night and have had many similar events since and God has always and will always protect those that choose to trust him.

Thanks for reading
